Common Offerings for Caishen

Five-Colored Fruits: These fruits symbolize the Five-Road God of Wealth. Typical choices include apples, oranges, flat peaches, dragon fruits, and red dates.

Tea: Three cups of tea should be prepared using quality tea leaves.

Fresh Flowers: Flowers such as lilies, chrysanthemums, and carnations are preferred for their beauty and fragrance.

Candies: Including peanuts, candies, and pastries in your offerings is common to symbolize sweetness in life.

Incense and Candles: You will need nine sticks of incense along with a pair of candles to create a sacred atmosphere.

Yuanbao (Joss Paper): This symbolic money is burned as an offering to represent wealth being sent to the afterlife.

Treasure Heart Mantra Amulet: This amulet is believed to stimulate wealth fortune and should be placed on the altar or next to the image of Caishen after worship.

Method of Welcoming Caishen

Identify Auspicious Timing: It’s crucial to perform the welcoming ritual at an auspicious time based on your zodiac sign or at midnight on the fourth day of the first lunar month.

Prepare Yourself: Clean yourself thoroughly by showering and changing into fresh clothes before performing any rituals.

Create a Welcoming Environment: Turn on all lights in your home to symbolize brightness and positivity as you welcome Caishen.

Set Up an Altar: Arrange your offerings neatly in front of a statue or image of Caishen, ensuring that it is clean and well-maintained.

Recite Invocations: While holding three incense sticks outside your home, recite the invocation three times:

“Disciple (your name) respectfully invites the God of Wealth to my home” (弟子×××（自己的姓名）奉请财神来我家).

Return Home Respectfully: After invoking Caishen, return home without looking back or speaking until you have placed the incense in front of his image.
